Going from 8lb batches to 10lbs batches on MCR6
Probably easy question for the group. Based on our demand I’ll be upping most of our batches from 8lbs to 10lbs. I currently charge most of our beans at 201C (393F). Any concerns with increasing charge temperature to 205C (401F) with the intent of having a higher initial heat retention and thus not over extending the curve to achieve the same cup profile? I know there are many ways to achieve this, but wanted to ask as initial feedback. Will start recreating curves next week and would like to try this approach if it makes sense to you all.
Hi Gerardo,
This increment of charge temp is not uncommon. The options that make the most sense to me would be the increased charge temp you already mentioned, or higher initial fuel with the same charge 201C charge temp and then decreasing fuel as needed to follow a similar profile. You are on the right track.
Happy roasting!
