Sudden App Issues
Hey, curious if anybody else noticed something like this.
Suddenly yesterday Roastpath stopped displaying my roast numbers in the app like it had been. Before each roast it would say "RP-*number" before the profile name, for example "RP-6452 Ricardo Leguizamo". This suddenly stopped yesterday mid roast day. At the same time, it stopped displaying events unless I'm looking at the web portal. The option to display events is greyed out but checked on my app. Any solutions?
Hello Coffearoasterie.
There is a new app update available that makes Roast Number a separate field for the roasts that are saved. If you are on Mac, you can download the new version from https://portal.roastpath.com/download. Windows users should see an update in the Windows Store in the next few hours if it isn't available already.
The Roast Number was separated from the name for a variety of reasons. You can see the explanation of Roast Number in the help. https://help.roastpath.com/hc/en-us/articles/38727591294605-Roast-Number
If you opt not to give your Roast Profile a name when you save the roast, the profile will be named the same as it aways has. However if you give your profile a custom name, we will no longer automatically append the "RP-[number]" the beginning of the roast. Luckily, the Roast Number is assigned as soon as you Charge, can you can see this number directly above the name field in the new version on the app. You can continue to name your Profiles with "RP-" prefix, but you'll need to add this to the custom name yourself.
By removing the automatic prefix, users can now use a naming convention that lets them sort profiles by name in a way that matches their production process.
I'm not sure about the events issue. If you haven't installed the new version of the app yet, I would try that frist. We didn't see this in any of our testing. Please email support@roastpath.com or call Mill City Roasters support line at 612 886 2089 and we'll help you get through this issue.
Thanks for the reply. Reading the post you linked, it looks like the roast number will be displayed on the details tab however they are not on mine. I'm on Windows so I'll have to wait for the new update I guess, but it seems odd it would have half updated and half not.
I'm now encountering an issue where it won't save my coffee, so every roast after the switch says Unspecified Coffee even if it go into past roasts, select the correct coffee, and save it.
Thanks for reporting the issue with the coffee being reset to unspecified when you edit a roast profile from a mac or windows app version 2.1 and earlier. We've pushed a fix to the servers and this should be resolved now.
To further explain what you are seeing as half updated, the RoastPATH ecosystem involves 3 pieces of software. The cloud environment (servers), a Windows app and a Mac app. The servers always need to be updated first to make sure they are ready for new app to connect. Usually these are updated and we ensure the existing/old apps can keep connecting and saving roast data for a few hours (or days). Once we verify everything looks good with the servers, we begin to release the Mac and Windows apps. This rollout can take time and in the case of the Windows Store, we can't predict with the new store listing will finally go live. It can be a real juggling act to manage and sometimes features can look incomplete until the apps and servers are both updated for all users.
Thanks againg for helping us track down the coffee issue.
I appreciate your help with this, thanks!
Hi @coffeearoasterie,
Update 2.2.1815 was submitted to the windows store this morning (hopefully available by the time you see this) and is available on the downloads page for mac. We made a change to how Roast Number works. If you have not already entered a name prior to hitting charge, the name field will be initialized to "RP-[number]" when you hit charge. You can either add to the "RP-[number]" or delete the defaulted name and replace it completely. The update also fixes the omission where the Roast Number was not visible in the list under "Select A Reference"
